5 Reasons to Eat Chia Seeds

Chia seeds may be one of the most versatile items in your kitchen.

PACKED full of essential nutrients, fats and fibre, chia seeds are a must-have staple in your kitchen. Plus they can be added to a large list of dishes, which you can find some examples of below, making them a super easy ingredient to add some extra nutritional value to your meals.

5 reasons why you should include chia seeds into your diet.

  1. Packed full of protein which is the building block of hormones

  2. High fibre which is needed for proper intestinal health and balances blood sugar levels

  3. Contains high levels of the essential fatty acid Omega-3 which supports heart health

  4. Are a source of antioxidants plus also aid in protecting the stability of Omega-3 fatty acid

  5. Support bone, skin, hair, energy, and brain health plus have anti-inflammatory properties

Chia seeds are insanely versatile and can be added to almost any dish to add an extra boost of nutrients, healthy fats and antioxidants.

A few ways you can add chia seeds to your daily dishes are:

  • Add into a smoothie

  • Use as a yogurt topper

  • Energy balls and bites

  • Mix into salad dressings

  • Add to your favourite dip

  • Topper for salads

  • Overnight chia pudding

  • Add a table spoon into any baking recipe


This jam doesn’t just taste amazing but is a quick and easy no-bake item to keep on hand for up to two weeks in your fridge to use on your toast, yogurt or just have a spoonful!

  • Prep: 5 minutes + resting overnight in fridge
    (Pro tip: I make mine right before bed so I can wake up and enjoy this premade nutrient-dense super yummy jam on top of my yogurt or oatmeal!)

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of raspberries (frozen or fresh)

  • 1 cup of blueberries (frozen or fresh)

  • 2 tbsp of chia seeds

  • Optional: organic honey or brown sugar for added sweetness but not needed

  1. Throw everything into a bowl and mix well! If the raspberries and blueberries were frozen I recommend leaving them sit for a few minutes to thaw before mashing with a fork.

  2. Move into a jar that has a lid and cover in the fridge overnight.
