Embrace the Brighter Days Ahead with Spring Mood Changes

As we bid goodbye to the winter chill and greet the vibrant blooms of spring, our moods are bound to undergo a refreshing transformation. The longer days, warmer weather, and blossoming nature have a powerful impact on our emotional well-being.

During this season of renewal, many of us experience increased energy levels and a sense of rejuvenation. The sight of colourful flowers, the sound of birds chirping, and the warmth of the sun on our skin can uplift our spirits and bring a renewed sense of hope and positivity.

However, it's important to acknowledge that spring mood changes can also bring about shifts in emotions. Some may feel a sense of restlessness or anxiety as they adjust to the changing season. This is perfectly normal and to be expected as our bodies and minds acclimate to the new rhythms of spring.

Soul Cleaning

There is a reason we all feel a bit more anxious this time of year and that is because, whether you believe it or not, there are a TON of energy shifts happening right around this time of year and some people's bodies can be very sensitive to these shifts and sensations that they can feel physically drained.
I am one of them.

So I started practicing a thing I like to call soul cleaning in the spring.

And it's super simple.

All you have to do is take a few minutes, even seconds is good enough, a day and start making some mental or physical notes of things that no longer serve you.

This can be literally anything from people, places, food, drinks, even that old pair of shoes that hurt your feet but you wear them anyway.

Anything that isn't providing you with positivity in your life goes on the list.

Then once you have 5-10 things on your list you can start digging deeper and asking yourself why they aren’t doing it for you anymore.

Maybe your goals have shifted.

Maybe you have set some personal boundaries and that person doesn’t make the shortlist anymore to be in your life.

Maybe it's literally just as simple as you want to cut down on drinking as much wine or coffee because you just want to.

And also, just wanting to, is as good enough of a reason as any.
You don’t need a reason for everything you do/ think.

Once you’ve figured out why these things aren't serving you anymore you can gently put them out of your life.

This does two things.

1) it makes room for other things that light up your soul and make you HAPPY

2) removing them will reduce some stress that you maybe didn’t even know you were experiencing regularly due to that one thing.

If after a while you realize you actually want that person, place, or thing in your life again then that's ok! But just make sure you go back to the “why” it wasn’t serving you before and explore ways you can make it serve your goals now.

Some of the positives I’ve gotten from practicing soul cleaning.

#1 Reduced stress

#2 Better quality sleep

#3 Increased mood + mood stability

And guess what these three things have in common?

They all are major contributors to blood sugar stability!

And as you probably know this is semi-important to me and it really should be for you too! That's because blood sugar stability is vital to your quality of life, both mentally, emotionally and physically.

My current favourite meal for blood sugar/ mood stability and energy!

Blueberry Coconut Chia Pudding

1 cup Canned Coconut Milk

1 cup Blueberries (plus extra for garnish)

1 tsp Vanilla Extract

1/4 cup Chia Seeds

2 tbsps Unsweetened Shredded Coconut (plus extra for garnish)

  1. Add the coconut milk, blueberries, and vanilla to a blender and blend well until combined.

  2. Pour the blueberry mixture into a medium-sized bowl and add the chia seeds. Stir well to combine. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or overnight to thicken.

  3. Divide evenly between bowls or in to-go containers. Top with extra blueberries and shredded coconut, if using.

  4. Enjoy!
