Benefits of working with a Holistic Nutrition Consultant.

Now, I may be biased here, but I think Holistic Nutrition Consultants are pretty great.

Not only do we have a passion for wellness and helping others but most if not all of us have personally experienced many of the things we focus on in our practice which in my opinion makes us semi-experts in the field.

Now don’t get me wrong, I am NOT calling myself a doctor and nor do I want to be called one, I am just saying that often lived experiences are valuable, if not more valuable, than reading something out of a medical book.

The thing I love most about being a Certified Holistic Nutrition Consultant is the value I give others and the light in someone’s eyes when they realize a lot of their issues can be figured out by dietary and lifestyle modifications. That being said, there is obviously a time and a place for things like pharmaceuticals (without insulin I would have been dead way before becoming a Holistic Nutrition Consultant) but I think there is a movement in how people approach health and wellness that is making them start looking at what they are doing in their own daily lives that is potentially impacting their overall health.

If you want the official description of what we do, here it is:

We are educated professionals who help people understand the benefits of natural nutrition by combining modern science with the “time-tested wisdom” that every individual has their own nutritional needs. Our approach includes mind-body-spirit connections and understands that these three areas are essential to properly address ones overall wellness.
— CSNN

And while I think this is a great way to highlight what we do I don’t think it paints the entire picture of what we really do on a daily basis.

“But Emily, don’t you just make meal plans?”

Absolutely not. I honestly would say the food nutrition aspect of my practice is 50% of what I really do. There is SO much more to nutrition than what you eat.

So let’s go over what I really do:

Benefits of working with a Holistic Nutrition Consultant.

What I do as a Certified Holistic Nutrition Consultant:

  1. Provide information & resources

  2. Listen to frustrations and struggles

  3. Celebrate wins (no matter the size)

  4. Coach through difficult times

  5. Empower and be a cheerleader

  6. Recognize that there is no “one-size fits all plan”

  7. Be an advocate for people to be involved in their own health decisions

  8. Educate instead of belittle

  9. Understand that we are all on our own journey and things take time.

  10. Recommend modifications that are easy and attainable

  11. Use science-backed facts (no crystals or “voodoo witch doctor” stuff here)

  12. Address the route issues first
